Privacy Policy

The short version

Your photos never leave your device. PhotoInput runs entirely in your browser using WebGL2 GPU processing. No images, metadata, or file names are uploaded to any server, ever. Downloaded photos are re-encoded in your browser, so EXIF data such as GPS location is not included in the file.

What we don't collect

• Photos — All image processing happens locally in your browser. Photos are never transmitted.
• Accounts — There is no signup, login, or user accounts.
• Personal information — We don't ask for your name, email, or any identifying information.
• Cookies — We don't use cookies for tracking or advertising.

Anonymous analytics

We use Umami, which is cookieless, to understand how the app is used. The Umami script is served from our own domain, and events are sent to our analytics server at ojemu.com. This collects:

• Page views (which pages are visited)
• Feature usage events, such as a photo being loaded, a fix applied, or a download made. Each carries only fixed labels and numbers: the photo's score, issue count and category, the export format, the filter name, and the name of any A/B test variant you were shown
• Errors, reported as the error type only, never the message
• Basic device info (screen size, browser type)

Events never contain your photos, their pixels, EXIF data, or file names. We don't link this data to any individual.

Third-party services

• Umami — Anonymous usage analytics as described above, run by us.
• Fonts — The Outfit typeface is served from our own domain. No font requests go to Google or any other third party.

Data storage

PhotoInput stores a few small items in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and persist until you clear your site data:

• An anonymous ID (pi_anon_id) — a random identifier created on your first visit. It is used only to assign you consistently to A/B tests of the app, so you see the same variant each time. It is not sent anywhere and is not part of the analytics events.
• Preferences and notices — your chosen theme, and whether you have dismissed the Erase and Remove background notices.
• Test overrides and debug logs — only if you open a link with test or debug parameters (such as ?debug=1 or ?exp=): A/B test overrides, or a local log of your own score verdicts. These are never sent anywhere.

Photos are not stored. They are held in memory while the tab is open.

Children's privacy

PhotoInput does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
